[The ball.
He wouldn't say he was overly fond of those sort of events, though he could see the merit in them. More so after what had happened last night. Michael would do his duty, attend those functions when necessary, but he was in Wonderland and his duty was nothing now compared to when he'd been in Vega. He could, essentially, do exactly as he pleased, and, other than helping when something happened, he had a sense of freedom that he didn't have back home.
Structure, he had thrived on it, still did. But, here, his freedom opened him up to experiences that would have previously been lost to him.
And, that had led him to Bela. They had met, and things had moved forward in a way that Michael didn't think he'd ever known before. It was natural, and unforced, without time restraints. And, she wouldn't suffer the same way here as she would have back home. Being with him was punishable, but here, it didn't matter.]
Bela.
[He whispered her name, and he wasn't trying to wake her. It had just slipped out as he lay there, holding her. Michael brushed a finger across her cheek, brow creasing in confusion. An emotion he'd probably feel a lot while he worked this all out.]

[As someone that didn't need food to survive, he didn't place high priority on his personal preferences for taste.
He sits down across from her, and sets some of the food on a plate.]
Thank you.
[A light, content smile plays over his mouth.]
At least we don't have to leave in order to eat.

[Which was absolutely true. Bela starts to eat some of the food, taking sips of tea between bites. She looks relaxed.]
I will stay as long as you want me to. Or need me to. Either way, I'm happy.
